Lone Star Comedy Club

You must know by now that the BYC is closing it’s doors on 1st January…. (Boo!)

Fear not! We have not abandoned you! We are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with the amazing team at the fabulous George in Rye to return our phenomenal BYC Lonestar Comedy Nights to their original home, the luxurious ballroom of The George in Rye!

What can you look forward to? The evening will follow the same fantastic format – featuring three incredible acts that will leave you in stitches. And the best part? The ticket prices remain unchanged – just £12 for entry or £18 if you fancy indulging in a scrumptious Chilli Bowl as well.

For this particular event Friday, 10th November is the perfect opportunity to treat your friends who are visiting for the Rye bonfire night on the 11th to an unforgettable and incredibly fun night out!

ABOUT THE ACTS

Your Compere:

Kevin McCarthy remains one of the biggest and most loved performers by comics and audiences alike, compering and headlining at all the major Comedy Clubs in the UK.

With an ever changing act, and the ability to find humour in any subject, Kevin’s warm personality and utterly relaxed stage persona puts the audience instantly at ease. His appetite for topical mirth is second to none and he will have even the hardest of crowds eating out of his hand, as well as watching their back for he’s as sharp as they come.
“The Ad Lib Expert” – The Stage

Your support Act:

President Obonjo is a larger-than-life stand-up comedy character who has been taking the comedy scene by storm. He features in the hit show ‘Stolen’ on ITV X and is an internet sensation.

As the uber-confident, self-appointed, side-splitting dictator of ‘Lafta Republic’, he has been quietly leading a comedy revolution as the African dictator exiled in Britain. With high-energy political and personal gags he has wowed in clubs across the country.

“Had the audience in stitches from start to finish”
“It’s a great comic construct, with lots of seized opportunities for playing with the clichés” – Chortle

Headliner:

Carey Marx has been a circuit favourite for years, mixing his own blend of dark humour with his mischievous and gleeful delivery. His wilful disregard for the controversial and delicate is tempered beautifully by his ability to find joy in the most unexpected places. This hilarious mix of edgy topics and playful gagsmithery can be seen at all the top clubs across the country with Marx regularly playing Jongleurs, Komedia and The Comedy Store and annually compering the largest festivals. Carey has taken numerous critically acclaimed shows to Edinburgh Festival Fringe over the years. His 2013 show, Intensive Carey, was so successful that it was picked up by BBC Radio 4 in 2015 and developed into a R4 special.

Alongside his stand up, Carey has recorded a popular weekly topical podcast with comedian Barry Castagnola, called The Proper Gander. The hilarious show has received 5 star reviews from listeners and is available through iTunes.

“Carey Marx is a criminally overlooked comedian. He’s an extraordinarily talented stand-up who reaches into the genre’s darkest corners with a tickling stick. Delivering his black thoughts with a cheeky smile, he is an endearing host and only those who want to be offended by what he’s got to say will be offended by what he’s got to say. The rest of us will be in stitches. He makes the world a better place.” – Metro
“An evening in his company is nothing less than a joy” – The Independent on Sunday
