DESI FONTAINE – Fine Art Photographer
Desi has a lifetime career working in photography. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Master Photographers’ Association and a Fellow of the Societies of Photographers. She is a revered photographer, tutor and international photographic judge.
From her studio in Fairlight, she works as a portrait photographer and tutors keen amateurs and mentors semi-professional and professional photographers.
Combining her love of travel and passion for her craft she has spent many years teaching travel photography to groups of enthusiasts in the UK, the USA, France, Venice, Italy and Cuba.
The exhibition features Fine Art travel images taken with film and taken digitally. Desi will also show her Time Zero Collection, images taken on vintage Polaroid cameras and then hand manipulated to blur the boundaries of film with a painterly look, echoing works of the Impressionists but with a contemporary twist.
Framed and unframed images will be for sale.
COLIN GRIFFITH – Potter
Colin draws on culture and history for inspiration. Influenced by Iznik pots from Persia, oriental styles from Japan and Korea, as well as Moorish pots from Spain and medieval English tavern ware.
He has a studio near Rye and continues to study at the Aylesford School of Ceramics where he fires larger pieces of work.
Most of his work is stoneware in a variety of glazes though he finds traditional slipped terracotta earthenware great fun to make combining, as it does, simplicity of form with the drama of finger decoration.
The exhibition features his latest ceramics in earth colours from his latest collection with one-off hand decorated pieces. Colin will also show his white stoneware collection, with blue designs applied with small, shaped sponges which are in direct contrast, requiring patience and concentration.
Plates, vases, bowls, pots and planters will be for sale.
